I've been AWOL

Its been way too long since my last update. This is a week late, but I still have to share. One of my favorite photos of Zeb tied for first in a contest. No prizes, just the chance to show off a treasured photo.

Throw the frisbee

"What the heck are you waiting for??? Throw the frisbee. Look, there's a stack right there waiting to be thrown."
"I'll get it!"
"You didn't get a shot of THAT, did you???!!""Ok, I'll lay down, but I'm taking my frisbee with me."

"Hurry! Get me some water so I can rinse this dirt out of my mouth."

Met another 'Z' dog

While doing a little frisbee practice at the park, we met another border collie. He was a gorgeous red/white male named Ziggy. Zeb and Ziggy hung out and rested a bit as I chatted with Ziggy's peeps. They live in the housing tract next to this park (school actually), so we may run into them again.
Zeb got in some frisbee practice and hopefully broke in his skidboots. His blue pair was easy to break in, but the extra thick camo Z-Max boots aren't stretching to fit as quickly.

Zeb didn't care about the boots, he just wanted me to throw the frisbee.

Weekend Fetch Fun

I practiced a bit with the manual settings on my camera when I took Zeb out this weekend. It was a learning experience. The highlights are blown on some of them, but overall, I'm happy with what I got. This is the pic I took for the Eyes Hav It photo assignment at DPS.

Flyabll withdrawls

We had almost 2 weeks off from flyball practice because of the Bishop tournament and Zeb was getting rather restless. Even frisbee wasn't enough to satisfy him. We had practice on Friday and he was so revved up for it. He's normally a very good tugger, but man he gave it 110%. Its wonderful to see how much he loves it. I have no doubts whatsoever that I have found the dogsport for him. I wish I had tried flyball sooner, but at least I got started while he's still young and has a lot of years of racing ahead of him. I've been missing flyball as well and I really enjoyed seeing my friends/teammates again and hearing about the tournament. I won't miss the next one. If all goes well, it will be Zeb's debut. I can't wait. For now, we've got work to do at practice.

Not at Bishop

The team went to the Bishop tournament this weekend and its killing me to not know how everyone did. I stayed home because Zeb isn't ready and its a long drive, etc. Its been mostly a boring weekend for us. I suddenly remembered about the agility trial this weekend that I had planned to go to and take pictures of a friend. I rushed down there and caught her last run of the day. Next time, I'll mark my calendar so I won't miss it. Most of my pics were ok, but I did get one shot I liked.

This Weekend

The weekend is almost over :::sigh:::. Its never long enough. Yesterday, Mary* and I ran the dog games for a local dog training center. We've been doing this for years and its a lot of fun. The event went smoothly as usual. This year we had an announcer and music. It made the musical commands game a lot more fun and it was easy to gather everyone for the next game.

Today, I just relaxed and took Zeb out for a bit of frisbee practice. That made Zeb's day. He loves frisbee.

* A friend who refuses to get online or I would link to her blog or album. Sorry, no pics - blame Mary. LOL!

The Beginning

Wow, where to start. I'm not sure if there are rules to blogging, but if there are, this might be one of the no-no's. I feel like starting in the past and since its my blog, I've decided to go for it.

Zeb is my remedy for a broken heart. I'm not going to relate a sad relationship story, just suffice it to say that my heart was broken when I lost my heart-dog to a brain tumor on Oct 30, 06. Darn those holidays, it ensured that I would never forget the date. As hard as it was to do, I sent out inquiries to friends for recommendations and when I found myself alone and dogless, I was able to locate a puppy quickly to fill my empty house and hopefully the huge chasm in my heart left by my Speedway's passing.I almost passed on this pup. I prefer a darker dog, but he was perfect in every other way. It's now approaching 2 years later and I have never doubted that decision.

I need to note that his breeder was NOT breeding for color. I feel strongly that border collies should be bred for working ability only. Mostly white puppies was not the goal of his litter.
